For more than a decade, Koelner Internet Union (KIU) has been the local association of the widespread community of internet related businesses in the area of Cologne, Germany. KIU, longtime local Twitter-maniacs, Webworkers and net activists of Germany´s fourth largest city invite Twitter to Cologne.
We want Twitter to select Cologne as the location for their German base camp! For a long time now, local and regional organizers have relied on Twitter as a major tool for their communication activities around a variety of commercial and non-commercial events. Network meetings, TweetUps, BarCamps, Twittwoch (TwittWednesday), Twarneval as the online companion of the traditional carnival, regular Twittagessen (TwittLunches) and support for the International Twestival represent regular highlights in the online calendar of the 2.000 years old city.
In Cologne, Twitter can build on a solid, innovative and loyal internet community and all the resources an internet company needs – including a city wide fibreglass network provided by Germany´s largest local carrier NetCologne. Renowned trade fairs such as dmexco and gamescom, numerous, highly qualified online experts and the Cologne Internetweek (#iwcgn) add further value to the location. We believe that Cologne offers unique opportunities and the best prospects for Twitter´s German office and we will be more than happy to assist in many ways.
